The Power

Today, the power in my little apartment has gone off twice so far. The outages have been short and made no damage from what I know, but it reminds me how much we rely on power. Power can make these little discs go from little reflective frisbees to great pieces of entertainment to see and hear. Power helps keep your food fresh and cool. On a triple digit day like this, it also keeps people cool too. It allows me to read and write blogs longer than my laptop battery will last. It brings some order to our streets. At night, power give us light when there should be none. There are many things the power brings and takes away. All of us who live in this modern world have felt the effects of a power outage and could add to this short list I created.

For me, this is not the only power in the world. There are other natural powers, like the sun. We think its hot here, imagine living on the planet Mercury. Of course there is a power stronger than the sun or any sun in this mysterious universe we live in. The strongest power is God. When I think God has power, I remember the moment where Moses meets with Him. How Moses had the remove his sandals for he was on Holy ground or how when Moses came down from Mount Sinai, his face would shine. What would happen is the power of God suddenly went out? Maybe then we would know how much we depended on Him.

Stay cool and hydrated this summer. I thank God for this day...even if its HOT!
